Abstract

Women's roles are crucial to the economic prosperity of any nation, with their participation in entrepreneurship being a key driver of sustainable development. This study focuses on the contributions of women entrepreneurs in India, highlighting their potential to advance economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The purpose is to examine the role of female entrepreneurs in promoting sustainable practices within the economy, society, and ecology. The study employs a descriptive research design to assess how integrating environmental factors into female entrepreneurship impacts the growth and sustainability of the Indian economy. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect primary data from 355 geographically dispersed women entrepreneurs who met specific eligibility criteria. Data analysis involved simple percentage methods, ANOVA, and correlation tools. The findings reveal that contextual factors, personality traits, and motivational drivers significantly influence the entrepreneurial goals of women. Environmental factors such as psychological support, environmental benefits, and past work conditions were found to be crucial in shaping women's motivations and business outcomes. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the motivational factors of female entrepreneurs to foster sustainable business practices. It highlights those environmental considerations, along with personal and professional life experiences, play a significant role in entrepreneurial development. The results suggest that creating a supportive and conducive environment is essential for the success and growth of female entrepreneurs. While environmental aspects are naturally incorporated into the operations of women entrepreneurs in India, it is vital to also address economic and social factors to enhance their contribution to national development. The study underscores the need to promote socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable business practices. This research contributes to the literature by examining the combined impact of goals, personality traits, and contextual factors on the entrepreneurial ambitions of women, offering insights that have not been explored in previous studies.
